Anti-Porn PSA From the 1960s…

Simply amazing “Anti-Porn” PSA from the 60s… It starts out like any PSA would or should, but as it progresses, the images it shows are more suited for fans of porn than opponents of it. Just look at the scene where a farm girl lies prostrate with a billy goat visible in the background, bestiality anyone?

  3. These are mostly just pictures of naked people. Porn is in the mind. They may make it easier to use your mind for pornographic purposes.

  4. i think there is some merit to the idea that muscle mags subtlely promote homosexuality. and lord knows that pornography does pervert you and undermines your ability to enjoy healthy sexual relationships. you get so used to seeing these hot models with giant breasts and everyone else starts to look a little more blah. there was a day that women, too did not have to obsess so much over their looks to the detriment of their personality or character development. yeah, i think there is something to the idea that all this stuff made us a little too sex-crazy. what used to be sacred and behind closed doors is now in your face all of the time and distracts you from what you should really be paying attention to.

  8. Wow, what foresight. If they saw Jerry Springer and Maury back then, there would be riots in the street. Thats how evil destroys us, a little at a time.

  12. Good ol’ George Putnam. He was a newscaster on independent stations in the Los Angeles area in the ’60s and ’70s. He probably served as the model for “Ted” on the Mary Tyler Moore show. (Wikipedia for those under 30. 8) He was such a buffoon, always good for a laugh. Then he collaborated with Mort Sahl on a show called “Both Sides Now.” It was intended to be a point-counterpoint sort of thing. But with two comedians, one conscious of the comedy and one not, it was entertainment of the highest order. The interesting thing was, you got to see more of George than just his bombastic “editorials” or his reading of thevnews with in-character pronouncements on the stories. On BSN, you saw George engaged in debate and discussion in an unscripted environment with Mort Sahl, and partisans of both men in the audience. And along with intentional and unintentional humor, I began to see something remarkable: George Putnam had a tender heart. He was wounded by the contempt and laughter of his adversaries. Not only that, it was clear that he was sincere in the beliefs he propounded. (In the paranoia of the times, nobody on the left believed anyone on the right could truly believe anything they were saying. The reverse was true too, of course. Come to think, that’s largely true today.) George quit the show in a huff after three shows, because Mort dominated them with Kennedy conspiracy stuff. When he came back, the show had a more balanced format that it retained for the rest of its run. Over that time, I saw one other surprising thing occur: George Putnam started to wise up on a few things. He didn’t convert to the other side, but he grew a little bit through his debates with Mort. This was the most surprising thing of all, given what had seemed to be his implacable hard right beliefs and impenetrable stupidity during his career up to that point.

  16. It just goes to further prove the government propaganda machine is always working and why the internet is the best thing to happen. Ever. Information can be processed and accessed instantly and it will be hard for them to ever lie to us and get away with it. Don’t let them regulate the internet.

  17. Well I believe this was the whole idea behind most movements back in the 50 and 60s including the womens lib movement (Google Gloria Steinem, woman’s lib and CIA). Even the CIA admits the co-opting of almost all large movements in order to give the impression of promotion or opposition to certain ideas. But through images, double think, action or inaction, purposely undermined the message so that nothing was accomplished or even the opposite promoted. To me this video is obviously meant to promote sexuality, not condemn it. The idea was, and still is, to break down American morals so that infiltration of America by foreign ideas and operatives became easier. The CIA is not our friend, as much as we’d like to think so. Nice vid.
